I visit here around once a month and I have done for a few years now. I am always happy with the service I receive, all of the staff members are well mannered, polite and friendly. The food is always perfect. It can be a little tricky getting parked outside, but I usually manage.

This place ties 1st place with The Almighty Cod on the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The batter, thickness of the fish and the chips were perfect. Won’t go anywhere else in Darlington for fish and chips now.

I always get the small cod and chips, usually a thick piece of cod and batter is always fried through. (rare to get that level of batter in an ordinary chippy) chips are great also.

Absolutely top notch from Bartons Fish & Chips. The service is always exemplary. Even visiting on Good Friday when it is constantly busy the service is always the same despite the fact the staff barely get a second to take a quick break. The quality of food is second to none, the fish just melts in your mouth underneath the crispy batter and the onion rings... they are huge!!! and so damn tasty. If you want a quality fish and chip shop, this is the one to go to.
